Frequently Asked Questions
Is a Ram key the same as a Dodge key?
For trucks built before the 2010 split, yes, those fall under Dodge. From 2011 on, Ram is its own brand, though the keys still share FCA technology. Match your year and FCC ID, and check the Dodge collection for pre-2011 trucks.
Does my Ram 1500 use a FOBIK or a smart key?
It depends on the year and trim. Many 2011 to 2018 Rams use the FOBIK insert key; newer push-button trucks use a proximity smart key. The FCC ID on your current key tells you which.
How much is a Ram key at the dealer?
Usually $265 to $505 programmed, with the proximity smart keys on higher trims at the top. Ours are well under that.
Do you carry keys for the ProMaster van?
We do, along with the 1500, 2500, and 3500 pickups. The ProMaster's key differs from the trucks, so match your year and FCC ID.
Can a Ram key be programmed without the dealer?
Often yes, by an auto locksmith, and some older trucks allow on-board programming with two working keys. Our key programming page lays out the options for your truck.
