Hummer Key Programming

Good news for Hummer owners: the H2 uses GM’s onboard system, so the transponder key and the keyless remote both program yourself with no tools — instant with a working key, or a ~30-minute relearn if you’ve lost them all. Find your model below.

Hummer Keyless Remote

2008–2009 · Keyless Remote Do it yourself

Standalone keyless-entry remote — program the buttons yourself onboard, no tools. Steps below.

Program it yourself

GM’s onboard relearn — no tools, no dealer. Use the quick add-a-key if you have a working key; otherwise the ~30-minute relearn.

  1. Have a working key? Insert it, turn to ON (don’t start) for ~5 seconds, turn OFF and remove. Within 10 seconds insert the new key and turn to ON — the security light goes out and it’s learned.
  2. All keys lost (~30 min): insert the new key, turn to ON (don’t start). Wait 10 minutes until the security light turns off.
  3. Turn OFF, then back to ON within 5 seconds. Wait another 10 minutes for the light to go out. Repeat once more (third 10-minute cycle).
  4. Turn OFF — the key is now programmed to start the car.
  5. Remote buttons: with all doors closed, hold LOCK and UNLOCK together until the locks cycle, then test. Message us your year for the exact remote sequence.

Exact timing varies by year — message us your vehicle and we’ll send the precise sequence.
